FY27 Budget Watch: Quiet in Recess Ahead of the Lame-Duck Session

November 4, 2026, 5:03 AM ET

No material developments since the last check

A fresh round of searches across wire services and established outlets (AP, Reuters, PBS NewsHour, The Hill, Politico, Roll Call, Axios), plus the authoritative trackers (CRFB’s Appropriations Watch: FY 2027, the House Appropriations Committee, the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Congress.gov) turned up nothing new since the Nov. 3, 10:03 PM ET check.

CRFB’s tracker still shows its September 3 refresh. Senate Appropriations Chair Collins’ most recent release remains her September 25 statement on OMB’s pocket-rescissions package. Both chambers remain in recess following the November 3 midterm elections and return November 9 for a compressed lame-duck session, where a topline spending agreement, the FY2027 regular bills, and the debt limit are all expected to collide.
